That's what it's all about:
The International School Augsburg is a successful business development project in A³. It opens up the location to highly qualified specialists and managers from all over the world.
A magnet for international families in the region
The children of top international athletes from Augsburg's sports clubs, specialists and managers for regional companies or professors for the medical faculty at the University of Augsburg have one thing in common: they don't grow up in their home country, but travel the world - with their parents, who are internationally mobile for work. The International School Augsburg (ISA) offers precisely these children a welcome anchorage in A³. Founded in 2005 on the initiative of the Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, more than 350 pupils from kindergarten to young adulthood are already learning from and with each other at ISA. A globally standardized, pedagogical school concept and internationally recognized qualifications ensure that the students have a successful educational career even beyond national borders.
This is how the ISA makes the future better:
- Optimum preparation of children for the future: in addition to a comprehensive teaching program, social and intercultural skills are strengthened
- Success factor for the location: ISA increases the attractiveness of companies in attracting top international talent
- Together with interested education shareholders who want to invest in education
Special school philosophy
“Learning to be me in a global community” is ISA's school motto. It is more in tune with the spirit of the times than ever before. Integration and respect instead of exclusion are part of the school culture. The colorful sea of flags in the auditorium of the school building shows the international and cultural diversity of the school: students and teachers from more than 40 countries come together here to learn and work together. Being “different” is normal at the ISA.
The framework for the educational concept of the private all-day school in Gersthofen is based on the so-called “Learner Profile” of the English-language International Baccalaureate Program (IB). This enables graduates to obtain qualifications that are recognized both in Germany and internationally and open the door to study worldwide. From the Early Learning Center (preschool) to the Upper School, English is the language of instruction and therefore the common language for all children. In addition to a wide range of native language courses, pupils also receive intensive German lessons to enable them to integrate locally. ISA offers a wide range of sports, music, IT & multimedia and leisure activities to develop the individual talents and abilities of its students.
School wins innovation competition
With its high-quality, transnational educational concept, ISA is now one of the best international schools in Germany. The school has long since received the important and recognized accreditations that prove high-quality education in international competition. In 2021, it has now been awarded the TOP100 seal - an award that honors particularly innovative medium-sized companies. ISA was the first school to take part in this innovation competition and prove its innovative strength. ISA scored points with the jury for its digital strategy, among other things. The school management decided to go cloud-based back in 2018. “Our aim is for our students to find their way around our globalized and digitalized world,” explains Marcus Wagner, who has been responsible for the school's further development as Commercial Director since 2009.

International School aims to grow with new campus
ISA is clearly taking an innovative approach when it comes to the future. Because things are going so well, the school is reaching its capacity limits, but wants to continue to grow. A new campus is to provide more space, better transport links and an expanded educational offering, such as a daycare center. The key to this: The non-profit public limited company was the first German education share to go public in Munich. This means that anyone can now become an education shareholder and acquire a piece of the future of education. ISA's approach makes it a pioneer for private investment in education. Planning for the new, innovative school campus at Gersthof station is in full swing.
For the best future prospects
The student-centered, future-oriented education at the ISA is more important than ever for the A³ region when it comes to attractiveness as a business location. Whether global players, the Augsburg Innovation Park or the new university hospital - they all benefit from the accredited International School. “Whether top doctors, athletes or foreign executives, the ISA and its international education concept is always the decisive factor for a family to choose Augsburg as a location,” says Cathie Mullen, responsible on the Board of Education. The school not only offers globally recognized qualifications that open up the best prospects for a training or study place at home or abroad, but also an appreciative home for the children.

Like a comprehensive school, we cater to the very different learning levels and needs of our pupils. They often arrive in the middle of the school year and do not speak German, but many other languages. They all need a school that enables them to continue their education in another country without interruption when their parents move on for a job.
